I wouldn't need something like this, but I do own a solar charger and battery pack to keep my phone up and running in the event of a power loss situation. It is more of a necessity to keep that going than a laptop whcih is basically just a phone with a bigger screen and physical keyboard these days.
"To put the 720 Wh capacity into perspective, this is enough to charge a modern laptop for 11 – 13 times, or an iPad Pro for 15 times, or a Nintendo Switch for 36 times. As an added bonus, the battery has two LEDs (sorry, no RGB)."
I don't think you'll find pre-built lithium ion batteries (even lithium LiFEPO4) for that much cheaper, even without the charger/inverter. Lead-acid gets you down to $150-200 for the battery alone. You can probably get 720 Wh of 18650 cells for under $300, but safely assembling that and hooking it up to charging and inverting equipment is a lot less consumer-friendly than lead-acid or a pre-built solution.
Oh, that price was for lightly used cells, new cells seem to be roughly twice that, however that's also consumer pricing, bulk pricing would be far cheaper.
I assume this is for very special scenarios. I don't know where others live but I live in an area with sunlight. There's cheaper solutions for smaller battery packs that come with large 100W foldable solar panels that connect up to them. A buddy bought one for around $400.
If you have the option of living in an area that gets sunlight (i.e. Earth), look into that.
For comparison, a typical Tesla Model 3 battery stores 80,500Wh. 80.5 KWh / (.72 kwh * 108 hrs) ~= 120,750 hours of 13.7 years of Nintendo Switch time, rounding down.
"one USB 15V/3A Type-C connector that supports a 45 W Power Delivery"
How is this not able to output at least 20V/3A? Would've actually expected all the way up to 20V/5A, but as long as it's 20V, it can charge most USB-C laptops. 15V is really a disappointment.
Not only that. Still a lot of laptop nowadays still not support USB C charging. Charging using AC outlet will result a lot of power loss because you'll convert DC-AC-DC. Its cylindrical DC connector output is 12V, 10A 🤦♂️. Most laptop require 19.5V, 2-3A.
I hope the developers of this over sized Battery knew of the FAA 100 Wh battery limit as to the size of Lithium Ion Battery that you can bring onto Aircraft.
They do. This is actually a pretty good company that makes good products. I bought their Truck Jump Starter, which is just under the flight limit. It's pretty portable, so it doubles as my portable power-bank. It has a small display which shows 1%-99% battery capacity, compass, has a light and torch.
For a grand you can get an EGO Nexus PowerStation and run a good chunk of your home in silence, with swappable battery packs that can be charged off-hours using solar or other means. Price is just totally uncompetitive. It already includes two 7.5Ah (56V!) packs in the kit which is already over 100Wh more than this thing.
...I looked it up and it's 13.7kg, w/o batteries! I didn't look up how much the batteries weigh but for some reason this is literally in a different weight class, they say it's good for camping but that's more like camping outside your trailer instead of backpacking, unless you're a pro who goes hiking in the mountains with 40kg of gear, in which case ~20kg of battery may be acceptable.
And then there's the Tesla Powerwall 2, which, sure, is more 8 expensive at $6,700, but at the same time it offers 19 times more battery capacity, as well as much higher power output.
Tesla powerwall is better with panels, this 720w thing is useful for 5-8 hour shortages to at least keep tour fridge alive. Even getting 2-3 could be a reasonable option.

Indeed. If you're banking on the power going out for several days at a time, gaming's also probably the last thing on your mind.lmcd - Thursday, March 19, 2020 - link

$725 for 720 Wh. That's over $1,000 per KWh. I knew consumer pricing sucked but goddamn.Guspaz - Thursday, March 19, 2020 - link

In terms of 12.58Wh(3400mAh) 18650 cells, this equals about 57 cells, and those cells cost less than $2 each, so yes, they're much cheaper.s.yu - Friday, March 20, 2020 - link
